Guevara Arts and Leadership takes immense pride in its nearly decade-long commitment to providing educational opportunities to students in the Central Valley. We offer various programs that focus on the arts while employing a motivational lens that helps inspire and build the next generation of leaders.
We hope that by providing students with unique opportunities they may not frequently encounter, they discover hidden talents within themselves and endeavor to surpass their own perceived limitations, thereby realizing newfound potentials they never deemed attainable.

Creative Arts Programs

LATIN AMERICAN ARTS & CRAFTS
GRADE LEVELS TK–6TH
Latin American Arts and Crafts is designed to support both artistic expression and cultural awareness, with a unique bilingual approach. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice Spanish alongside English, expanding their vocabulary while gaining insight into the linguistic and cultural nuances of Latin America. By participating in this program, students will gain a deeper understanding of Latin American traditions, cultivating an appreciation for diversity and promoting tolerance and inclusivity. Beyond creating art, the course emphasizes the importance of cultural exchange, providing students with the tools to build cross-cultural connections and celebrate global diversity. This comprehensive, hands-on approach not only supports creative development but also promotes cognitive and linguistic growth, making it an invaluable experience for students seeking to broaden their horizons and embrace the richness of Latin American heritage.

MAGIC THREADS • FOUNDATIONS
GRADE LEVELS 3RD–12TH
Magic Threads Foundations is a dynamic arts program designed to engage students by introducing them to a variety of yarn arts techniques. Over the course of the program, participants will explore punch needle art and knitting/crocheting, offering a comprehensive hands-on learning experience. Students will have the opportunity to create unique pieces through punch needle art, using embroidery loops and specialized tools to design textured works that can range from small coasters and wall hangings to larger decorative items. They will also dive into knitting and crocheting, where they can produce a wide range of projects such as plushies, scarves, beanies, bags, and blankets. These activities encourage both creativity and practical skill-building, allowing students to see their ideas come to life stitch by stitch. Throughout the program, students will progress from smaller starter projects like keychains and coasters to more advanced creations such as wearable accessories and plush toys. They will receive guidance on setting up materials, mastering techniques, and finishing their projects with quality and care. In addition to crafting, Magic Threads encourages entrepreneurial thinking. Students will learn how to transform their artistic passion into potential business opportunities, gaining insight into selling their handcrafted items and pursuing future endeavors in the creative arts.

KINGDOM OF KINDNESS
Empowering Hearts & Minds!
GRADE LEVELS TK–3RD
Kingdom of Kindness combines the magic of Disney with the transformative power of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Throughout the week, students will embark on a journey of self-discovery, using beloved Disney movies, characters, and stories as a springboard to explore key SEL concepts such as self-awareness, empathy, emotional regulation, and building healthy relationships. Each day of the camp is centered around a specific SEL theme, where students will engage with movie clips that highlight these themes, participate in thought-provoking group discussions, and create meaningful art projects that bring these lessons to life. By drawing inspiration from iconic Disney films, students will find a unique and fun way to connect with important life skills. Whether it’s understanding emotions through the lens of Inside Out, practicing empathy with Zootopia’s characters, or discovering selfconfidence through The Lion King, each film provides a relatable context for students to reflect on their own emotional experiences. The combination of art activities and storytelling allows students to express their feelings, explore new perspectives, and deepen their emotional intelligence. In addition to the SEL-focused learning, students will enhance their creative expression through hands-on art projects, encouraging them to visualize and express their emotions in innovative ways. . The result is a week filled with personal growth, emotional exploration, and a sense of empowerment, all wrapped in the magic and inspiration of Disney.

SHAKE IT OFF
Arts & Crafts
GRADE LEVELS 2ND–8TH
Shake It Off offers students a fun and creative opportunity to dive into the world of Taylor Swift, exploring her cultural impact through arts and crafts. Through a variety of hands-on activities, students will express themselves artistically while also gaining insight into the themes and messages that Taylor Swift’s music represents. The camp emphasizes not only creativity but also the empowerment that comes from self-expression and the lessons found within Swift’s work. Each day introduces a new creative challenge inspired by Taylor Swift’s music and style. Students will design personalized “Junior Jewels” friendship t-shirts, craft origami “Eras” flower bouquets, and decorate heart-shaped sunglasses, capturing the essence of Swift’s iconic aesthetics. These activities encourage personal expression while also allowing students to engage with elements of pop culture that resonate with their generation. Beyond crafting, this camp provides an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the deeper themes in Taylor Swift’s music, including friendship, and women’s empowerment. Students will explore how these messages have shaped modern society and how they can apply these values to their own lives. The camp seamlessly integrates these discussions into creative projects, creating a deeper connection to the art being made.

MAGIC THREADS • RUG TUFTING
GRADE LEVELS 6TH–12TH
In Magic Threads – Rug Tufting, students learn how to design and create their own custom rugs using professional tufting machines. They begin by sketching original designs on paper and transferring them onto stretched fabric frames. Each student learns how to properly thread, control, and operate a tufting machine to bring their ideas to life with yarn, focusing on outlining shapes, filling color sections, and combining multiple colors and textures. Once the tufting is complete, students move through the finishing process—applying glue to secure the backing, trimming away excess yarn, and shaving the surface to reveal clean lines and smooth textures. They also attach their own backing fabric, completing the process from raw design to finished product. Every step emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and craftsmanship. All rugs created during the program belong to the students. Whether they complete one large piece or several smaller projects, they get to keep everything they make. Students who stay focused and apply themselves can finish several rugs throughout the program, building both skill and pride in their work while gaining a clear understanding of the full rug-making process.

JR. CHEF ACADEMY
Culinary
GRADE LEVELS 6TH–12TH
Jr. Chef Academy is an immersive cooking program that introduces students to the art of cooking while emphasizing food safety and essential kitchen skills. Under the guidance of a professional chef with over a decade of experience, students will gain hands-on experience in a structured and supportive environment. The program focuses on helping students build essential kitchen skills such as food safety, and proper cooking techniques. At the same time, they will discover how food connects to culture and community, developing an appreciation for the traditions behind the recipes they prepare. Collaboration plays an important role, as students work together to cook, plate, and enjoy meals in a supportive and creative environment. They will work with real kitchen equipment, including stovetops, ovens, and other heating elements, to prepare meals from scratch, learning the same methods used by professional chefs. By the end of the program, they will feel confident in the kitchen, equipped with the knowledge to prepare meals safely and independently. This camp fosters creativity, teamwork, and a love for cooking, making it a valuable and enriching experience for all participants.

SUMMER SOUNDS STUDIOS
Music Production
GRADE LEVELS 4TH–12TH
Summer Sounds Studios offers a hands-on music production program, providing students a unique opportunity to explore music creation, regardless of experience level. Participants will gain practical experience using industry-standard equipment and software, covering essential aspects of music production, including beatmaking, mixing, and mastering. Students will work on individual projects and collaborate on group assignments, enhancing teamwork and creativity. Led by an award-winning producer with experience on high-profile projects for platforms like Netflix and Hulu, students will receive mentorship from an expert who brings both technical and creative insights. The camp also covers creating soundtracks for movies, video games, and commercials, teaching students to craft tracks that complement visual media. By the end, students will have a portfolio of original tracks, a strong foundation in music production, and a golden opportunity to gain the skills that could spark a future career in music production, audio engineering, or related fields

FUTURE REPORTERS
Create, Report, & Tell Stories
GRADE LEVELS 6TH–12TH
Future Reporters is a literacy-embedded program designed to immerse young aspiring journalists in the world of reporting, Combining writing, research, and videography students will develop real-world storytelling skills. Throughout the all-day camp, students will focus on videography during the morning session and audio production in the afternoon, allowing them to explore multiple facets of multimedia journalism. They will learn the fundamentals of journalistic writing and reporting, conduct interviews, and research credible sources, while gaining hands-on experience with videography and multimedia storytelling. Students will work on a final project showcasing their work, and by the end of the program, they will have created their own news pieces, gaining invaluable skills in communication, critical thinking, and digital media. The camp will culminate with a field trip to Univision, offering students a behind-the-scenes look at a major media outlet and a unique opportunity to see professional journalism in action. This experience is designed to create a deeper understanding of the media industry and empower students to develop their voices and skills as future journalists.

GRADE LEVELS 1ST–12TH
GAL Folklórico is a culture-based performing arts program that brings the beauty, history, and pride of Mexican tradition to life through dance. Students will explore the rich stories of Mexico’s regions, each with its own rhythms, steps, and traditional costumes that honor the people and heritage they represent. Folklórico is more than dance — it is storytelling, cultural connection, and celebration. Students will learn foundational steps such as carretillas and zapateados, while discovering the meaning behind the movement. This class will guide dancers through choreography inspired by the region of Veracruz, where African, Spanish, and Indigenous influences blend to create iconic pieces like La Bruja. Throughout this program, dancers will build confidence, improve coordination, and safely push their physical abilities in a supportive environment. They will develop stage presence, rhythm, teamwork, and cultural appreciation — gaining not only a new skill, but a deeper connection to tradition and community. Our instructors bring over 25 years of combined dance experience and more than 10 years of instruction, rooted in training from Ballet Folklorico y Marimba de Fresno. Their passion and dedication shine in every class, inspiring students the same way folklórico first captured their hearts. Students will leave this program proud, empowered, and ready to share the vibrant art of folklórico with their families and community.

FUTBOLITO SOCCER CAMP

At Futbolito Soccer Program, students will enhance their skills, build confidence, and have a blast on the field with our experienced, high-level, and award-winning coach, Gabriel Sosa. Coach Sosa has spent the past four years as the lead soccer coach at Baird Middle School, where he led his team to a city championship title. His passion for the game, combined with his ability to inspire and develop players, makes him the perfect mentor for young athletes looking to improve. Our camp focuses on teaching the key principles of soccer, starting with essential offthe- ball skills like agility, coordination, spatial awareness, and intelligent movement. Players will then sharpen their ball control, passing, shooting, and decision-making through dynamic drills and friendly competition. We create a fun, supportive environment where campers work in pairs and small groups while learning from a championshipwinning coach. Through engaging activities, they’ll enhance their teamwork, creativity, and overall game awareness. Beginner or experienced players looking to elevate your game will find this camp to be the perfect place to grow as a player, improve their skills, and make new friends.
